GASTON COUNTY, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) – Gaston County Police have made three arrests in connection to a fatal shooting and assault that happened in late February.
The homicide occurred in the Goble Street neighborhood on February 27, 2025.
Authorities confirmed that Diontaye Jones, 20, has been arrested and charged with first-degree murder in connection with the death of one person and the assault of another.
Around 1:30 a.m., on February 27, officers responded to a report of a vehicle near York Highway and Hudson Boulevard. As officers arrived, they discovered one person shot dead, and another who had been assaulted, inside the car.
Investigators determined that the shooting and assault originally happened in the nearby Goble Street neighborhood. The person who was assaulted was taken to a nearby hospital.
In addition to Jones, two juveniles have also been arrested and charged with first-degree murder in connection with the same crime. They are currently being held at the Stonewall Jackson Youth Development Center. Their identities have not been released due to their age.
The identities of the victims have not been made public at this time. Investigators are continuing to piece together the events surrounding this tragic incident.
