A storm that swept through the region and brought a wintry mix left icy conditions in some parts of Connecticut, leading to nearly 20 school systems operating on a delay on Wednesday.

The mix moved into the state Tuesday morning and lingered in some parts of Connecticut into the evening hours before temperatures dipped, leading to rain and slush freezing over night.

About 18 school systems operated on a two-hour delay, including those in Bristol, Bloomfield, Bolton, East Windsor, Manchester, Plymouth, New Fairfield, New Hartford, Sherman, Somers, South Windsor, Torrington, Windsor, Windsor Locks and other towns.

There were delays on multiple highways during the morning commute, including those on Interstate 84 West in Danbury, I-84 East in West Hartford, Interstate 95 South in Bridgeport, I-95 South in Stamford and Route 15 South in Trumbull, according to the state Department of Transportation. No major crashes had been reported on any state roads as of about 7:30 a.m.

According to Eversource, 25 customers of the more than 1.3 million that the energy company serves were without power as of 7:30 a.m. This included 22 customers in Meriden and a few outages in Coventry and Greenwich.

United Illuminating reported zero outages around the same time.

According to the National Weather Service, seasonal temperatures are expected over the next few days before they dip on Friday. Forecasts call for a 30% of snow on Friday that could lead to little or no accumulation.
