John McKinney Obituary, It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of the passing of our beloved patriarch, John “Buzz” McKinney, a pillar of our family and community in Russellville, Alabama. Buzz left this world on Friday, February 2nd, at the age of 70, surrounded by the love of his family. While we are overcome with grief, we find solace in celebrating the remarkable life he lived.
Buzz was born to John William and Willie Mae McKinney, and he carried their legacy with honor and pride. A loving husband of 49 years, Buzz is survived by his devoted wife, Emily, who stood by his side through thick and thin. Together, they built a life full of love, laughter, and shared memories that will forever hold a special place in our hearts.
In addition to Emily, Buzz leaves behind a legacy through his children, Jonathan and Laura, who brought immense joy to his life. Jonathan, accompanied by his wife Kristy, resides in Birmingham, while Laura, with her husband Colin, has made a home in the vibrant city of New Orleans, LA. Buzz took great pride in the accomplishments of his children, and his unconditional love for them was evident in every interaction.
The light of Buzz’s life extended to his cherished grandchildren: Jon Andrew, Hudson, Ruthie, and Livy. He found immense joy in watching them grow, imparting wisdom, and creating lasting bonds that will endure through generations. Buzz’s legacy lives on not only in the memories we share but also in the values and love he instilled in each family member.
We invite you to join us in remembering and honoring Buzz at the visitation, which will be held at Russellville First Methodist Church on Sunday, February 4th, from 5 pm to 6 pm. Following the visitation, a memorial service will take place, providing an opportunity for us to celebrate the life of a remarkable man who touched the hearts of many.
In lieu of flowers, we kindly request that you consider making a donation to the FAME Girls Ranch, a cause dear to Buzz’s heart. Your contributions will support an organization that aligns with his compassionate spirit and dedication to making a positive impact in the lives of others.
As we navigate through this difficult time, the outpouring of support from friends and family has been a source of strength. We are grateful for the love and condolences shared, and we find comfort in knowing that Buzz’s memory will live on through the stories we tell and the love we continue to share as a family.
