Death Notice – It was meant to be a dream vacation filled with relaxation, joy, and happiness, but for Lucia Cova, a 71-year-old from Tuenno, Italy, residing in Malé, it turned into a nightmare in Cancún, Mexico. Lucia, the former coordinator of provincial nursery schools in Val di Non and Val di Sole, lost her life after a fall down the stairs on Thursday while holidaying with her partner, Bruno Soave, a well-known dentist in Val di Sole.
The couple, who recently retired, embarked on this long overseas trip to savor their well-deserved pension. However, tragedy struck just days into their vacation when Lucia slipped down the stairs, sustaining a severe concussion. Despite immediate efforts by Bruno, she was admitted to the intensive care unit, but the prognosis was grim. Lucia Cova succumbed to the injuries, leaving the community of Malé in disbelief and shock.
Mayor Barbara Cunaccia expressed her sorrow, describing Lucia as a smart, cheerful person always willing to help others. The community rallied together to support Lucia’s family, offering condolences and assistance. Lucia’s son, Marco, rushed to Mexico upon hearing the news, with the process of bringing her home expected to take weeks. The Municipality has assured the family of its full support during this difficult time.
