Kristen Koehnke Obituary, Death; – A woman who tragically lost her life after being hit by a vehicle in Island Lake on Friday has been named. The Lake County Coroner’s Office has identified the victim as 41-year-old Kristen Koehnke, a resident of Island Lake.
Koehnke was declared dead at the scene, located on Route 176, east of Waters Edge Drive. According to a preliminary investigation, she was struck by a 2018 Chevrolet Colorado operated by a 21-year-old woman from Glenview, as reported in a news release from the coroner’s office on Tuesday, which did not disclose the driver’s identity.
The incident took place around 9:15 p.m. on Friday, and an autopsy conducted on Monday revealed that Koehnke succumbed to blunt force trauma, as stated in the release. The Major Crash Assistance Team of Lake County is collaborating with Island Lake police to investigate the incident.
