Lemijamin Jarquis Walters Obituary, Death; – A man who was found shot to death on a road in Birmingham has been identified. On Tuesday, the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office confirmed the victim’s identity as Lemijamin Jarquis Walters, a 27-year-old resident of Birmingham.
Officers from the precinct were dispatched at 7 p.m. on Saturday following reports of an individual lying on the ground at the intersection of Avenue E and 16th Street in Ensley. Upon arrival, police discovered Walters unresponsive in the street. The Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service declared him deceased at 7:12 p.m. The cause of his fatal injuries was not immediately known.
On Sunday, the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office concluded that Walters had died from a gunshot wound. Sgt. LaQuitta Wade noted that there were no reports of gunfire in the vicinity, nor any notifications from Shot Spotter. Walters marks the 17th homicide in the city this year and the first since February 15.
