Dalton France Obituary, Death – Frances Ellen (Shafar) Dalton was born on March 12, 1921 at a farmhouse close to Rodman, Iowa. Her parents, Leslie Fay Shafar and Namoi Ellen (Hedrick) Shafar, were her parents. It was in 1935 when they relocated to Bedford, and it was in 1939 when Frances received her diploma from Bedford High School.
Their wedding took place in Mayville, Missouri, on March 14, 1942, and Frances married Darrell Dean Dalton. During the time when Darrell was serving in the Navy from 1944 to 1946, they initially settled down and farmed south of Bedford. As soon as he returned, they began farming in the area south of Bedford. In the middle of the 1950s, they relocated to Conway in order to begin farming. In 1963, they left the farm and relocated to Omaha, where they began working for the Omaha Home for Boys Organisation.
During the year 1967, they relocated to Des Moines, Iowa, where they found work as house parents for the American Institute of Business. They first relocated to Red Oak, Iowa, in 1989, and then they relocated to Lenox, Illinois, in 2001. In addition to being a member of the United Presbyterian Church of Lenox and the American Legion auxiliary, Frances was a member of the sorority that was affiliated with the American Institute of Business.
Left to cherish France’s memory are her two sons, Dick (wife Deb) Dalton of Lenox and Bob (wife Barb) Dalton of Colfax, North Carolina; a daughter, Cheryl (husband Dick) Hatfield of Knoxville, Iowa; eleven grandchildren, Quent (wife Sharon) Dalton, Nicky (husband Rob) Brammer, Trisha (husband Jared) Mains, Paul (wife Klisa) Lynam, Amy (husband Jeff) Tull, and Evan (wife Jo) Lynam; Katrina Hatfield, Jennifer (husband Josh) Faber, Ryan (wife Tam Mai) Dalton, Chris (wife Carrie) Dalton, Lauren Dalton, twenty five great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; two sisters, Bette Priest of Emmetsburg, Iowa and Mary Utsler of Leesburg, Florida; brother Ned Shafar of Newton, Kansas, as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.
