David Cummings Obituary, Death Cause – David was a devoted patriot who served his country with distinction in the United States Air Force. During the Pueblo Incident, he was thrust into active duty with the 832nd Combat Support Group. David’s service to his country was very much appreciated. Immediately following his discharge from the Air Force, Dave joined the New York Air National Guard and served in the 107th Fighter Group at the Niagara Falls Air Base for a period of twenty-five years, during which time he held a variety of positions.
Dave retired from the National Guard as a Master Sergeant, having received the Air Force Commendation Medal and the Air Force Meritorious Service Award during his years of service. He also received the Air Force Meritorious Service Award. In his thirty-seven years of service at Buffalo State University, David eventually reached the position of Director of Operational Services before retiring. Additionally, Dave was utilised as a coordinator within the Employee Assistance Programme that was offered by the University.
He also attended Buffalo State University, where he received both his Bachelor of Arts and his Master of Arts degrees. David was a dedicated member of the Newstead Fire Company for twenty-five years, during which time he held the position of President for ten years. In addition, he handled the management of the men’s softball team during his time with the organisation.
A number of other organisations, such as the Eastern Hills Wesleyan Church, the American Legion L.L. Tillman Post 900, the Veterans of Foreign Wars 3180, the Jaycees, the Newstead Historical Society, and the Masons, Moose, and Elks, were among those that he was a member of. In addition, Dave took great pleasure in coaching the Dande Farms Women’s Softball Team, participating in the little league baseball and soccer programmes in Akron, and playing in weekly golf leagues at Rothlands and Dande Farms for a considerable amount of time. He demonstrated his natural leadership abilities and his desire to make a difference in the world through his dedication to these organisations and to his community.
