Jamal Edward Tucker Obituary, Death; Authorities have confirmed the identity of the individual who lost his life in a collision on Jefferson Avenue during the morning rush hour on Thursday.
Jamal Edward Tucker, a 34-year-old resident of Newport News, succumbed to injuries sustained when his motorcycle collided with an Audi sedan at approximately 6:23 a.m. near the intersection of Jefferson Avenue and Warwickshire Court, as reported by Newport News Police spokesperson Kelly King.
This location is situated a few blocks south of Main Street in Midtown Newport News, close to the James River Nursing and Convalescent Center. The driver of the sedan, a 43-year-old woman, fortunately did not sustain any injuries, according to King.
The gray Audi A4, which was impacted near the driver’s side door, was positioned perpendicular to the roadway while investigators conducted their examination at the scene on Thursday morning. Several hours post-collision, police investigators continued to scrutinize the damaged vehicle, with ten police units still present at the site as of 8 a.m.
Heavy eastbound traffic, including vehicles heading to the shipyard, was redirected to Warwick Boulevard via Main Street for several hours. Traffic was cleared and reopened shortly before 11:30 a.m.
