Cleveland Police Chief Dorothy Todd expressed her sorrow during a media briefing, stating, “This is an absolute tragedy to have four young people killed in this type of tragic accident.”
According to Chief Todd, the Hyundai Sonata that the teenagers were traveling in had been reported stolen from a residence on Wichita Drive on February 27. The vehicle’s owner mentioned that he last observed it parked on the street in front of his home.
The wreckage of the vehicle was removed in fragments on Wednesday morning. The incident occurred around 12:40 a.m. in the 2900 block of West 106th Street, situated between Madison and Western avenues.
The identities of the other two victims, who are also believed to be young adults or teenagers, have yet to be disclosed. A neighbor reported to FOX 8 News that they heard a car speeding down the street prior to the accident.
Cleveland EMS confirmed that the two males and two females in the vehicle were pronounced dead at the scene. According to police, the three passengers were ejected from the car, while the driver remained inside.
