Anthony R Virginia Obituary, Death; – The individual who was shot and killed by officers of the Milwaukee Police Department on Saturday has been identified as Anthony R. Virginia, aged 41, as reported by the Milwaukee County Medical Examiner’s Office.
The incident transpired following a response by the Milwaukee Police Department to a report of a break-in at a business located on the 5100 block of N. 32nd St. According to Police Chief Jeffrey Norman, the caller indicated that one of the suspects had discharged a firearm at them during the incident.
Chief Norman stated that when officers approached the suspects and instructed them to relinquish their weapons, they subsequently shot and killed Virginia while apprehending a 34-year-old armed suspect. The officer involved in the shooting is a 41-year-old male with a decade of service on the force and has been placed on administrative duty, which is standard protocol in such cases.
The investigation is being conducted by the Wauwatosa Police Department, which did not provide a comment prior to the deadline. Members of the Milwaukee Alliance Against Racist and Political Repression were present at the scene, urging the police to release body camera footage of the incident to the family within 48 hours, as mandated by department policy. The police are required to release footage to media and other requesters within 15 days, in accordance with departmental guidelines.
