Kevin Austin,Glen Meyers Obituary, Death; – Two individuals lost their lives following a tragic accident on State Route 140 near the Oregon border.
The incident occurred on State Route 140 close to mile marker 95 in Humboldt County, situated 125 miles northwest of Winnemucca and 15 miles southeast of the Oregon state line, shortly after 12:45 p.m. on Sunday, March 9.
According to Nevada State Police troopers, a blue Ford F-150 was traveling north on SR 140 when the driver pulled over in the northbound lane to assist the dogs that were secured in the truck bed. The three occupants of the F-150 exited the vehicle for this purpose.
At the same time, a white Hyundai Tucson was also heading north on SR 140 when it struck the rear of the F-150, impacting the two passengers who were standing behind the truck. Both vehicles ultimately came to a stop in the northbound lane, facing west, with the front end of the Hyundai lodged beneath the rear of the F-150.
Troopers reported that the collision resulted in fatal injuries for both passengers of the F-150, identified as 52-year-old Kevin Austin from Riverdale, Utah, and 61-year-old Glen Meyers from Sun Valley, Nevada. The driver of the F-150 was unharmed.
The driver of the Hyundai was transported to a nearby hospital due to serious injuries. Nevada State Police have indicated that impairment is suspected to be a factor in this incident. The Nevada State Police Highway Patrol Traffic Homicide Unit is currently conducting an investigation into the crash, which remains ongoing.
