Danny Durham Obituary, Death; – Newschain is investigating whether a suspect search is linked to a death inquiry that occurred over the weekend in Marion County.
Sheriff Bo Burnett informed Newschain that the Marion County Sheriff’s Department (MCSD) received a report regarding a body discovered around 3:00 PM on Sunday near River Canyon Road. Sheriff Burnett indicated that the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) has been called in to assist with the case.
The TBI has identified the deceased as 66-year-old Danny Durham, whose body was located beneath a pile of scrap metal in the backyard of a residence on Big Rock Road. According to a cousin of Durham, he did not reside at the location where his body was found but would frequently visit his bedridden uncle there.
The relative mentioned that the last communication he had with Durham was early last week; however, subsequent attempts to reach him via calls and texts went unanswered, leading the family to report him missing later that week. The TBI has announced that an autopsy is scheduled to ascertain the cause of Durham’s death.
On Monday, state forestry officials declared a temporary closure of Prentice Cooper State Forest to facilitate the search for a suspect involved in a serious crime that occurred in the vicinity of the park on Sunday night. The state Forestry Division shared the following statement online: “To assist in the search for a suspect in a serious crime that took place near Prentice Cooper State Forest last night (3/9/2025), the forest is temporarily closed to the public.”
