Devon Andrews Obituary, Death; – A man has been reported deceased following a standoff in Machias on Wednesday, according to police authorities.
The incident commenced when the Machias Police responded to a report concerning a resident exhibiting erratic behavior and making threats towards staff at Sunrise Residents on Lyons Street.
Authorities identified the individual as 50-year-old Devon Andrews from Machias and initiated communication with him through the door of his apartment. During this interaction, Andrews informed the officers that he possessed five loaded firearms and ominously stated that “all hell was going to break loose.”
Shortly thereafter, communication with Andrews ceased. In response, police evacuated the building. Approximately eight hours later, the State Police Tactical Team entered the apartment and discovered Andrews deceased from a self-inflicted injury.
The investigation into the incident remains ongoing.
