Yarick Damons Death – The victims involved in the Golden Arrow bus crash have been identified by the officials after the family members gave their consent. Three passengers were killed and 21 others were hurt when a Golden Arrow bus toppled, bringing an end to a tragic Heritage holiday weekend. Yarick Damons, Amy Carelse and Marlize van Rooi passed away after the bus accident that happened after Heritage holiday weekend on Jakes Gerwel Drive.

The family members and friends of the victims mourn their death and the injured victim are currently receiving treatments at the hospital. The accident that resulted in the death of Yarick Damons, Amy Carelse and Marlize van Rooi happened when the bus driver lost control of the vehicle while traveling from Mitchells Plain to the Cape Town CBD on Monday morning on Jakes Gerwel Drive. The bus swerved, flipped, and slammed into a light pole while the driver reportedly fought to recover control of it.
21 passengers suffered significant injuries and were sent to neighboring hospitals for treatment, while three passengers suffered fatal injuries and were pronounced dead on the scene by the medical staff. The injured were sent to community health centers in Hanover Park, Vanguard, Elsies River, Mitchells Plain, Tygerberg Hospital, Groote Schuur Hospital, and Heideveld.
According to police spokesman Joseph Swartbooi, a case of culpable homicide is currently under investigation. Family relatives and acquaintances who had gathered at the scene were able to recognize the three victims’ bodies. John Dammert, a spokesman for Golden Arrow, claims that although the bus driver lost control, he did not abandon the scene as was initially believed.
