Norman Smith Obituary, Death- We mourn the loss of Norman Raymond Smith, known as “Norm,” who died in a motorcycle accident in Kalamazoo, Michigan, on September 24, 2023. On March 29, 1964, in beautiful Allegan, Michigan, Norm began his life.
Norm, an Allegan Public Schools graduate, was talented and passionate about craftsmanship. He was a talented carpenter and gardener who left a lasting effect on people who saw him work. After 18 years at Wolverine Hardwoods, Norm was promoted to retail sales due to his hard work and dedication.
He was respected by his coworkers for his professionalism, friendliness, and willingness to help. Norm’s wit and playfulness were famous. He loved performing pranks on friends and family, leaving them laughing. His sneaky look signaled playfulness, which won over everyone who knew him.
Beyond his career and antics, Norm loved his family. He was an affectionate father, brother, son, and spouse. His family was his rock, providing unconditional love and support. Norm inspired those who knew him with his courage and love, and his absence will be felt.
Norm has the gift of uniting individuals from various backgrounds. His mischievousness and love of pranks made him unique and memorable. Since Norm was the first to aid others, knowing him was to love him. Love and laughter are Norm’s legacy.
His lovely wife of 13 years, Susan Smith, surviving him, was his partner for 26 extraordinary years. His proud parents, Norman and Valerie (Stough) Smith, his beloved children, Abbigail (Chris) Allen, Josh (Ciarrah) Oetman, and Chelsea Oetman, his siblings, Clay (Diane) Smith and Vanessa (Greg) Sagodic, his sisters-in-law, Debbie Thomas and Cheryl Baker, and his mother-in-law, Charlene Baker, his grandchildren Tristan, Aubrie, and Christopher, and many nieces and
A two-hour visitation will precede Norm’s 1:00 pm memorial service at the Gorden Allegan Chapel on Friday, September 29, 2023. In memory of Norm’s love of animals and compassion, the family requests donations to the Allegan County Animal Shelter, 2293 33rd Street, Allegan, MI 49010. We will always remember Norm’s exuberant laughter, unlimited love, and endless smiles. Everyone who knew him will miss him.
