Angela Lane Weaver ARRESTED; – A school bus driver reportedly fell asleep while operating the vehicle, as indicated by a crash report.
According to the report, on February 12, Angela Lane Weaver, aged 47, dozed off, causing the bus to veer off the road. In an attempt to correct her course, the bus subsequently left the roadway, struck a ditch and a tree, and ultimately overturned on Mason Ferry Road in Mobile, Alabama.
At the time of the incident, the bus was transporting 14 students, with seven sustaining injuries as a result of the crash. Tiffany Blankenchip, whose daughter was aboard the bus during the incident, expressed that this is not the first occasion she has had concerns regarding Weaver’s driving capabilities.
“My daughter has informed me on numerous occasions about various issues related to the bus driver,” Blankenchip stated. “I genuinely do not believe that the bus driver would intentionally harm anyone, but I consider this to be a case of negligence.”
WALA obtained photographs from a parent showing Weaver allegedly operating a school bus on February 21, just nine days following the crash.
“The driver was placed on administrative leave immediately after the incident based on the information available at that time. She briefly returned to work, but upon receiving new information, she was reinstated to administrative leave, where she currently remains. Now that ALEA has completed its report, it will be incorporated into our ongoing investigation as we assess potential further disciplinary measures,” the school district conveyed in a statement.
WALA discovered that Weaver had received three speeding citations over the past four years, all for exceeding the speed limit by more than 19 miles per hour.
Additionally, a prior crash report indicated that Weaver had acknowledged falling asleep while driving in 2021.
