Joshua Chamberlain Obituary, Death – Joshua Chamberlain was a Union hero who was gravely injured during the fight of Gettysburg. In reality, Joshua Chamberlain was wounded a total of four times throughout the course of the American Civil War, with the most recent incident taking place at Petersburg. The wounds that Chamberlain received during the fight of Gettysburg were the most severe ones he received throughout the war.
Chamberlain was given the rank of brigadier general on the battlefield while he was still being treated for his wounds when he was lying on a stretcher, despite the fact that he had been shot in both hips and it was believed that he had passed away.
This took place while Chamberlain was still being attended to by medical personnel. This ended up occurring in spite of the fact that he was elevated to a higher rank while he was still being transported on the stretcher.
