CHARLOTTE (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — Newly released video sheds light on the series of events that led to a man firing a gun into the floorboard of a CATS bus back in January.
Isaiah Johnson, 30, was arrested a week after the incident, on February 6. However, after a brief stay in custody, he was released on February 12.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police reported Johnson fired the weapon during a heated argument with another passenger. CMPD said the gunshot was intended to intimidate and scare the man Johnson was arguing with, not to cause physical harm.

Johnson now faces multiple charges, including the discharge of a firearm, possession of a firearm by a felon, and assault by pointing a gun.
The release of the video has raised concerns about safety on public transportation, particularly in high-tension situations. CATS officials have yet to comment on whether any additional security measures will be put in place as a result of the incident.
Electronic warrants were assigned in court on Thursday afternoon, records state.
