Thomas Yucuis Obituary, Death; – Authorities are conducting an investigation into a tragic incident in Dundee Township, where a pedestrian was fatally struck by three vehicles early on Monday morning. The Kane County Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of a pedestrian being hit by multiple vehicles at the intersection of Illinois Route 31 and Miller Road at approximately 5:58 a.m.
Witness accounts indicate that the pedestrian, identified as 69-year-old Thomas Yucuis from East Dundee, was walking in the southbound lanes of Route 31 while wearing dark clothing when he was hit by three vehicles:
– A Chevrolet Cruze operated by a 49-year-old man from Lake Villa
– A black Acura sedan driven by a 59-year-old man from Crystal Lake
– A grey Cadillac sedan operated by a 36-year-old man from Algonquin
All three drivers stopped to assist and contacted emergency services. Medics pronounced Yucuis deceased at the scene.
According to the Kane County coroner, the preliminary cause of death was determined to be “multiple injuries due to pedestrian vs. motor vehicle incident.” Toxicology samples have been collected and are currently undergoing analysis. Next steps in the investigation include the continued examination of the circumstances surrounding the incident, with no citations having been issued thus far.
