Arlene Pessar Obituary, Death – We regret to inform you about Arlene Pessar’s demise. She founded debra of America and devoted her life to spreading awareness of epidermolysis bullosa (EB). When her son Eric Lopez was born with this uncommon and distressing genetic disease, Arlene’s quest began. Arlene set out on a mission to improve the lives of EB sufferers after discovering a lack of information and support.
Arlene and Eric founded debra of America in 1980 with the goal of filling the enormous knowledge gaps regarding EB. Her goal was to give families dealing with the difficulties of this terrible sickness a glimmer of hope and assistance. The mission of the organization was propelled forward by Arlene’s zeal and tenacity. Arlene had a very tremendous impact on the EB community.
She was an unfailing source of support for numerous people and families, a passionate champion, and a devoted mother. All of us who had the opportunity of knowing her will never forget her dedication to enhancing the lives of people living with EB. Debra of America is still around today as proof of Arlene’s commitment. Her legacy is preserved through the organization, which keeps up the work she and Eric started.
We continue to be motivated to put forth great effort in the direction of a time when EB is better recognized, managed, and finally cured by Arlene’s love and compassion. We cordially ask you to join us in honoring Arlene Pessar’s wonderful life as we remember her. Her legacy is proof of the strength of a mother’s love and the influence one person can have on many people’s lives.
