Seven people arrested as police allegedly find guns, $120K worth of drugs during Waterbury raid

Seven people were arrested when police raided a Waterbury apartment on Tuesday and alleged finding several firearms and multiple types of drugs with an estimated street value of $120,000.

The investigation began as police around 10:30 a.m. were trying to apprehend 27-year-old Adam Guzman of Waterbury who had two felony warrants out for his arrest, according to Sgt. Joseph Morais of the Waterbury Police Department.

The operation to apprehend Guzman involved members of the department’s Vice and Intelligence Unit, Gang Task Force and Auto Theft Task Force.

As police tried to pull Guzman over, Morais alleged that he fled from a vehicle on foot and toward the rear of an apartment building on Angel Drive before he was quickly apprehended.

A passenger in the vehicle, 27-year-old Ronnie Linnen of Waterbury, also allegedly fled on foot and into one of the apartments, according to Morais. Three others, identified as 25-year-old Alexander Diaz, 25-year-old Rayshawn Maxwell and 30-year-old Rashaan Reeder, then allegedly fled from the apartment, Morais said.

All four men were taken into custody.

Morais said investigators then obtained a search warrant for the apartment. During the investigation, two other suspects identified as 36-year-old Christopher Lanham and 35-year-old Donavan Hardison, both of Waterbury were arrested.

During the investigation and search, police allegedly found 400 grams of fentanyl, six pounds of marijuana, 3,440 bags of heroin/fentanyl, 1.6 kilograms of cocaine/crack cocaine, $23,462, a Smith & Wesson 9mm handgun, a Glock 27 40 caliber handgun reported stolen from Hartford and a Glock 22 40 caliber handgun reported stolen from Rocky Hill. Morais said the drugs had an estimated street value of $120,000.

Guzman faces three counts each of criminal possession of a pistol/revolver and criminal possession of a firearm/ammunition, two counts of unlawful storage of a firearm and possession of a high-capacity magazine and a single count each of operating drug factory, interfering with an officer, possession of a stolen firearm, possession of more than 1 ounce heroin, possession of marijuana with intent to sell, illegal possession of a weapon in a motor vehicle, operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license and possession of more than 1/2 ounce cocaine/cocaine free base form.

Diaz has been charged with two counts each of unlawful storage of a firearm, criminal possession of a pistol/revolver and criminal possession of a firearm/ammunition and a single count each of theft of a firearm, operating drug factory, interfering with an officer, possession of more than 1 ounce heroin, possession of a high-capacity magazine, possession of marijuana with intent to sell and possession of more than 1/2 ounce cocaine/cocaine free base form.

Hardison has been charged with two counts each of unlawful storage of a firearm, criminal possession of a pistol/revolver and criminal possession of a firearm/ammunition and a single count each of theft of a firearm, operating drug factory, interfering with an officer, tampering with evidence, possession of more than 1 ounce heroin, possession of a high-capacity magazine, possession of marijuana with intent to sell and possession of more than 1/2 ounce cocaine/cocaine free base form.

Reeder has been charged with two counts each of unlawful storage of a firearm, possession of a high-capacity magazine and possession of more than 1⁄2 ounce cocaine/cocaine base and a single count each of theft of a firearm, interfering with an officer, operating a drug factory, possession of more than 1 ounce heroin and possession of marijuana with intent to sell.

Maxwell faces two counts each of unlawful storage of a firearm, possession of a high-capacity magazine, criminal possession of a pistol/revolver, criminal possession of a firearm/ammunition and possession of more than 1⁄2 oz cocaine/cocaine base and a single count each of theft of a firearm, interfering with an officer, operating a drug factory, possession of more than 1 oz heroin and possession of marijuana with intent to sell.

Linnen has been charged with two counts each of possession of a high-capacity magazine, unlawful storage of a firearm and  possession of more than 1/2 ounce cocaine/cocaine free base form and a single count each of illegal possession of a weapon in a motor vehicle, possession of more than 1 ounce of heroin, tampering with evidence, theft of a firearm, possession of marijuana with intent to sell, operating drug factory and interfering with an officer.
