Maria Trujillo Obituary, Death; – On Saturday afternoon, two individuals were struck by a “stray bullet” while standing in the backyard of a residence in Forest Hill, resulting in one fatality, according to police reports.
Authorities received a call around 7:15 p.m. regarding the incident at a home located in the 3900 block of Frisco Avenue. Upon arrival, officers discovered two individuals suffering from gunshot wounds, as stated by Forest Hill Police Chief David Hernandez in a news release. One of the victims, identified as 38-year-old Maria Trujillo, succumbed to her injuries, according to records from the Tarrant County medical examiner.
The report indicates that the other individual, whose identity has not been disclosed by the police, sustained injuries, although the extent of those injuries remains unspecified. The release does not mention whether any arrests have been made in connection with the incident.
Initial investigations suggest that the bullet originated from an area approximately one block north of the residence. Chief Hernandez noted that investigators from various agencies are “actively and tirelessly” pursuing the case. Forest Hill is situated southeast of Fort Worth.
Hernandez emphasized that authorities are concentrating on identifying the person responsible for firing the weapon from across the highway. He also clarified that the shooting appears to be “isolated” and is not connected to another fatal shooting that occurred earlier in the day at a car dealership in Forest Hill.
Police are urging anyone with information regarding the shooting to reach out to the Forest Hill police’s criminal investigations division at 817-531-5250, option 5, or via email at [email protected].
