Kara Krumwiede Obituary, Death – After a brief battle with illness, Krumwiede, who was 94 years old and originally from South Sioux City, Nebraska, passed away on November 13, 2018 in Omaha, Nebraska. On Thursday, November 29, 2018, at 10:30 a.m., graveside services will be held at Memorial Park Cemetery in Sioux City, with Karl Luther serving as the officiant. The United States Army Honor Guard is going to perform the military honors at the ceremony.
Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel will see to all of the necessary arrangements. C.E. “Gene” Krumwiede was born in Sioux City on June 27, 1924. He was the son of Henry and Anna (Bassett) Krumwiede. He spent his childhood in Dakota City, Nebraska, and received his high school diploma from Dakota City High School in 1942. Gene was a member of the United States Army and served in Korea until he was discharged with honor. Gene Hurlbutt was joined in matrimony to Ceoyne Hurlbutt in the month of July in 1950, and the couple went on to have two children as a result of their wedding.
Gene was a lifelong resident of South Sioux City, Nebraska, although he had also spent some time in Hooper, Nebraska, and Fremont, Nebraska, throughout the 1960s and 1970s. Until he retired in 1982, he was a supervisor at Northern Natural Gas, where he had worked for many years. The death of Ceoyne occurred on October 27th, 1986. Gene Strohbehn married Dorothy (Oder) in September 1989, and the couple had a happy and fulfilling life together for the next twenty-six years until she passed away on August 28, 2015. Gene had a passion for great vehicles, working in his yard, and carpentry. Above all else, he treasured the time he could spend with his loved ones. It was the First Lutheran Church in South Sioux City that served as his home congregation
