(PINPOINT WEATHER) — We are cold and frigid this Thursday morning as clouds have lingered overnight, and we have a chance for another round of light snow this morning. Thursday will have a Pinpoint Weather Alert morning with the snow possible between 7 & 10 AM.
Snow will likely be light and amount to less than an inch in most spots, as we don’t anticipate too many major impacts from Thursday morning’s blast of snow. Look for skies to open up in the afternoon as winds pick up and sunshine rolls in through the second half of the day.
Highs will be limited to the upper 30s and near 40 degrees through the peak heating hours of the day. Be on the lookout for winds to pick up on Thursday, giving us a breezy afternoon with a mix of sun and clouds.
A Winter Weather Advisory will be in effect through noon for uptown and the Piedmont, with Avery County holding on until 6 PM as snow lingers for the afternoon.
Thursday night will usher in bitterly cold temperatures as lows bottom out in the upper teens for Uptown and single digits in our mountains! We’ll have a Cold Weather Advisory for Ashe, Avery, Watauga, Lancaster, & Chesterfield counties through Friday morning, with bitterly cold temperatures expected overnight.

Friday will be sunny and cold, only hitting the mid-40s during the peak heating hours of the day. We’ll have a warming trend continue through the weekend into early next week with a mix of sun and clouds expected.
Look for the 50s over the weekend to turn into the 60s we’ll see kicking off the first half of next week.
