David Polley Arrested; – A man is currently in custody, facing charges related to a fatal hit-and-run incident that resulted in the death of a 6-year-old girl on Sunday.
According to the Dallas police, 67-year-old David Polley was arrested and charged on Tuesday, subsequently being booked into the Dallas County Jail. It remains uncertain whether Polley has secured legal representation or if a bond has been established.
As reported by the Dallas police, officers responded to a hit-and-run accident involving a child at approximately 10:25 p.m. on Sunday, February 16, in the 5900 block of Belt Line Road.
Surveillance footage obtained by NBC 5 captured the child running from Ladera Drive into oncoming traffic traveling westbound on Belt Line Road. The video shows another driver who slowed down and nearly stopped to avoid colliding with the child. Moments later, police reported that a driver in a newer model white Acura MDX struck the girl in the roadway.
Authorities indicated that the driver of the SUV that hit the girl entered a nearby parking lot before departing the scene without offering any assistance. Shortly thereafter, other motorists stopped and activated their hazard lights.
The child was transported to a hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries, as confirmed by the police. Due to the child’s age, authorities have opted not to disclose her name. A witness at a nearby gas station reported that a man rushed to the scene upon noticing the police lights, identifying himself as the child’s grandfather.
