CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — Principal Lori Phillips of Charlotte Catholic High School announced her resignation, effective Friday, Feb. 14, according to the Roman Catholic Diocese of Charlotte.
Phillips served as the vice principal of Charlotte Catholic in 2023 before becoming principal at the beginning of the 2024-25 school year.
Phillips shared a message to teachers, students and their families:
“I joined you in 2023 with the highest hopes and best interests of your children at heart. Over this time, I have come to love and appreciate this community. Now, however, for the sake of the school, I believe it is best for me to step down from Charlotte Catholic so that everyone can refocus on what matters most – our students. I want to thank those of you who have supported me as principal. I believe in Charlotte Catholic and its mission of providing an extraordinary, faith-filled education with endless opportunities in partnership with parents. I am grateful to have had this opportunity and learning experience, and I wish the best for all of you. Sincerely in Christ, Mrs. Phillips“
The school says they plan to move forward with a “renewed focus on teaching and learning”
President Kurt Telford will serve as Head of School for the remainder of the school year and the 2025-26 school year.
Officials have not disclosed the reason for Phillips’ resignation.
