Jesus Arrango Obituary, Death; – Albany Police have confirmed the identity of the individual who was fatally shot during an incident on Sunday night. The victim has been identified as Jesus Arrango.
The shooting occurred around 11 p.m. on Lipsey Drive, where police responded to the scene and discovered the 56-year-old Hispanic man lying in the street with multiple gunshot wounds, including one to the head. Witnesses reported to the police that Arrango was the landlord of a nearby apartment complex and had been involved in a dispute with an unidentified individual days prior to the shooting.
Willie Simmons, a local business owner, expressed his concerns, stating he was not present during the incident. “It’s right in my backyard. It makes me increasingly anxious about operating my business here,” he remarked. Simmons noted that the area has a history of criminal activity.
“This marks the second murder in this vicinity. We frequently experience shootings and reckless driving, which is quite alarming,” he added. While authorities recovered seven shell casings from the scene, they remain uncertain about the caliber of the weapon used or whether the shooting was premeditated.
“At the end of the day, if there was a conflict involving this individual, there were far more appropriate ways to address it than resorting to violence,” stated Albany Police Chief Michael Persley.
Currently, Albany Police are actively pursuing leads to identify the suspect or suspects involved in this shooting. They encourage anyone with relevant information to come forward. Individuals with information regarding this incident are urged to contact the Albany Police Department at 229-431-2100 or Crime Stoppers at 229-436-TIPS.
