Nicholas McCarney Death – Aurora University Alumnus Nicholas McCarney of Elburn, Illinois has sadly passed away. He died at age 29 leaving family and friends devastated. The circumstances surrounding the actual cause of Nicholas McCarney’s death has not been made public. Born on November 5, 1993, Nicholas entered the world as the cherished offspring of Philip and Deanna McCarney, a fact that filled his parents with immense pride and affection.

His upbringing was rooted in Elburn, where he spent his formative years attending local educational institutions. Eventually, he donned the cap and gown of Kaneland High School, marking his graduation in the year 2012. It was during this chapter of his life that his ardor for the written word fused harmoniously with his adoration for the natural world, creating a cornerstone for his future endeavors. These passions became the bedrock of his journey as he furthered his education at George Williams College, an integral part of Aurora University.
His academic voyage culminated in an outstanding achievement – the conferral of a bachelor’s degree in environmental management and sustainability. His commencement address resonated profoundly with the audience, a testament to his innate ability to captivate and inspire. Nicholas’s exploration of the professional sphere led him to the ecology department at Fermilab in Batavia, where he took on the role of an intern.

He now leaves his loving parents, Phil and Deanna McCarney; his loving brother Nolan (Ellen) McCarney; his maternal grandmother, Jane Phillips; his paternal grandmother, Gail McCarney; his aunts and uncles: Debbie McCarney, Michael (Grace) McCarney, Steve (Tricia) McCarney, Cheryl McCarney, Cindy (Dan Ideran) Schingen, Char (Dan) Brown, Norm (Julie) McCarney, Kelly (Cruz) McCarney, Mark (Kelly Sue) McCarney, Mitch (Amy) McCarney, Denise (Mike) Thelander, Keith (Julie) Phillips and Kevin Phillips; many cherished cousins and countless friends both close to home, and across the world.
A memorial visitation will be held Friday, September 1, 2023, from 3-6 p.m. at Conley Funeral Home, 116 W. Pierce St., Elburn, IL 60119. A private family burial will follow at a later date. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in Nicholas’ name to benefit his love of the environment. Checks may be made to the “Nicholas P. McCarney Memorial” and mailed in care of P.O.
