Gabriel DeJesus Obituary, Death; – Gabriel DeJesus has been identified as the pedestrian who lost his life in a hit-and-run incident on Interstate 5 on Tuesday night, with no arrests made thus far, as reported by officials from the California Highway Patrol and the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Officers from the CHP’s Newhall Area Office responded to the scene of the traffic collision involving a pedestrian at 8:10 p.m. and classified the event as a fatal hit-and-run, according to CHP Public Information Officer Carlos Burgos-Lopez. The incident occurred in the northbound lanes of I-5, just north of Castaic.
The victim, 31-year-old DeJesus, was confirmed by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner to have died from traumatic injuries, with the incident being categorized as an accident. In preliminary reports, Burgos-Lopez noted that DeJesus “appeared to be crossing traffic lanes on foot” just prior to the collision.
As of Thursday, no arrests have been made in relation to the hit-and-run, he stated. The vehicle involved in the incident has been described as a Toyota Corolla, model years 2014 to 2019, with the color currently unknown. The vehicle fled the scene traveling north on I-5.
