Maria Lourdes Martinez Obitaury, Death; – A woman who died in a single-vehicle accident involving a canal wall in Sacramento County on Saturday afternoon has been named.
Maria Lourdes Martinez, 55, from Citrus Heights, lost her life when her Ford Explorer veered off the roadway and collided with a concrete divider wall in a canal at approximately 4:30 p.m. at the intersection of Sunrise Boulevard and Bosphorus Drive in Rancho Cordova, as reported by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office.
According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), Martinez was heading south on Sunrise Boulevard when, for reasons yet to be determined, she departed from the roadway and lost control of her vehicle. The SUV subsequently veered to the right and struck the divider.
Emergency personnel from the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District pronounced her dead at the scene. In response to the incident, southbound Sunrise Boulevard was closed from Chrysanthy Boulevard to Justinian Drive.
The investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing, and it remains uncertain whether drugs or alcohol played a role, as stated by the CHP.
