James Woodrow Obituary, Death; – A Lenexa man tragically lost his life in a motorcycle accident early Monday morning on Interstate 35, according to the Olathe Police Department. The incident took place on I-35 between Old 56 Highway and Santa Fe Street.
As per the department’s online service log, officers received a call regarding an “unknown type accident” in the northbound lanes of the highway at 1:19 a.m. Olathe firefighters and paramedics from Johnson County Med-Act were dispatched to the location at 1:22 a.m.
In a press release, Olathe Police Sgt. John Moncayo reported that upon arrival, officers discovered a male motorcyclist who was pronounced dead at the scene. The deceased has been identified as 46-year-old James Woodrow from Lenexa.
By 1:30 a.m., both Olathe Police and Johnson County Sheriff’s Deputies had closed the northbound lanes, redirecting traffic to 151st Street. Additionally, South Rogers Road was closed from East College Way to the roundabout at East Sheridan Street.
A reporter from the Post, present near the scene, observed damage to a guardrail on the interstate’s shoulder and to a chain-link fence along South Rogers Road. Crews from the Kansas Department of Transportation were summoned to manage traffic control at the closure on 151st Street.
