The Thurston County Sheriff’s Office and the county coroner have stated that a 65-year-old man died on Saturday afternoon after colliding with a tree on Littlerock Road. Michael L. Uphold was driving in the 16800 block of the road, north of Rochester, around 3:35 p.m.
According to Thurston Sheriff’s Sgt. Jeff Dehan, the vehicle overturned and hit with a tree, which then collapsed on top of the vehicle. The exact direction of travel at the moment of the collision remains unknown. The road was closed for around three hours while the investigation took place, Dehan noted.
Coroner Gary Warnock indicated that the medical examination for the deceased is scheduled for Tuesday.
