Silvio Sobrinho Death; Late Friday night, two tractor-trailers collided on I-295 South, resulting in the shooting death of a man.
At approximately 11:30 p.m. on Friday, January 31, a man was discovered dead with what appeared to be a gunshot wound following a collision on I-295 close to Pocahontas Parkway. The Virginia State Police (VSP) are presently looking into the incident.
According to state police, the man, Silvio Sobrinho, 58, was operating a tractor-trailer in the left lane when it “made contact” with another tractor-trailer in the center lane, forcing it off the road. After then, the truck struck a metal guardrail and came to a stop.
According to the police, the other tractor-trailer driver approached Sobrinho’s wrecked truck, shot several bullets into it, struck and killed Sobrinho, and then left the area. The passenger side of Sobrinho’s tractor has “several bullet holes,” according to the police. State police have characterized the truck that struck Sobrinho’s car as being white with green lettering.
According to police, a witness who was in a northbound tractor-trailer when the collision occurred discovered Sobrinho “slumped over the steering wheel.” The witness immediately went to the scene. Emergency medical staff declared Sobrinho dead after a responding trooper performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
There is an active and ongoing inquiry into this incident. The Virginia State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation is requested to be contacted by anyone with information.
