Richard Owen Obituary, Death; – Carter Bank has announced the untimely passing of Richard Owen, who served as the Executive Vice President of Mortgage Banking and Corporate Sales Director. Owen passed away on January 25, 2025, just one day shy of his 55th birthday.
A native of Roanoke, Owen had a distinguished career in financial services, managing the daily operations of the bank’s mortgage and corporate sales divisions for nearly ten years. He joined Carter Bank in 2017 and was pivotal in the establishment and expansion of the bank’s mortgage division. Under his guidance, the mortgage portfolio grew to approximately $650 million.
Furthermore, Owen was crucial in the formation of the bank’s Corporate Sales Team, which enhances sales strategy discussions across various business lines to improve the overall customer experience.
“Richard was instrumental in shaping Carter Bank into the institution it is today. I am proud to say that Richard was not only a colleague but also a dear friend for over thirty years. Owen is survived by his two daughters, Kate and Laney, his parents, Clark Owen Jr. and Emilie Owen, his partner Elza, and her daughter, Esmeralda. A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date.
