Luisa Urbano,Juan Martin Urbano Obituary, Death; – A man has been apprehended in connection with the tragic stabbing of a woman and her two young children in a basement apartment in Jersey City, as announced by prosecutors on Thursday.
Napoleon Romero-Anduray, aged 31, faces charges for the deaths of 31-year-old Luisa Urbano and her two children — Juan Martin Urbano, aged 9, and Diana Ramirez, aged 5. Their bodies were discovered by law enforcement in the early hours of Thursday, according to Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez in a press release.
Jersey City police were called to a residence on the 200 block of Hutton Avenue shortly after midnight following reports of a stabbing incident. Upon their arrival, officers found the adult female victim, who was declared dead at the scene. The two children were subsequently transported to Jersey City Medical Center, where they were also pronounced dead.
The cause and manner of the victims’ deaths are currently under investigation by the regional medical examiner’s office.
A fourth individual, later identified as Romero-Anduray, was also found in the apartment with injuries. He was taken to the same hospital for treatment of his wounds.
Jersey City Mayor Steven Fulop stated that the suspect attacked the three victims and then attempted to harm himself. He described the incident as a “terrible triple homicide” resulting from an act of “domestic violence.” While investigators have not provided details regarding Romero-Anduray’s relationship with the victims, some neighbors informed local media that he was Urbano’s boyfriend.
“I am unsure what the argument was about, but all signs indicated they were a happy family,” remarked Jay Perine, a resident of the building, in an interview with CBS News New York. “In the summer, they would have barbecues and play music. He worked every day,” he added. “This incident came as a shock.”
However, an online fundraiser initiated by a woman claiming to be the victim’s aunt states that Romero-Anduray was her niece’s “ex-partner.” “Romero-Anduray broke into her apartment and took the lives of all three,” she wrote.
