Amir Harrison Death; – The identity of the young child who tragically perished in a house fire on Sunday morning in the 20 block of N. Maryland in Youngstown has been officially identified.
Amir Harrison was discovered within the burning residence, where he had sought refuge during the firefighters’ search. He was subsequently transported to St. Elizabeth’s Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.
The child’s mother and five other siblings residing in the home survived the incident and were also taken to the hospital for assessment. The mother suffered injuries after jumping from the back porch.
On Monday, Youngstown Mayor Tito Brown and Fire Chief Barry Finley expressed their condolences to the family during a news conference. Chief Finley indicated that a space heater may have been the source of the fire.
The State Fire Marshal continues to investigate this incident, which remains under review.
