Burlie Dawson Locklear Obituary, Death; – A man sought in connection with the murder of a Waffle House employee in North Carolina has been apprehended in Virginia after four months on the run.
“I felt a sense of relief. Knowing that we can finally find some peace now. It was difficult at night, knowing he was still out there,” remarked Megan Locklear, a relative of the victim. Authorities report that the 38-year-old suspect shot and killed a Waffle House employee in Scotland County in September 2024.
Florwer Carlin Lizano is set to be returned to Laurinburg to face charges related to the death of 18-year-old Burlie Dawson Locklear. Locklear was working as a cook at the Waffle House when police indicated that Lizano visited the establishment.
According to law enforcement, Lizano became agitated when his order was delayed and discharged his firearm, striking Locklear, who subsequently succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. The victim’s family expressed relief at the news of the arrest.
“I was filled with joy. While it won’t bring Dawson back, it does provide me with some comfort at night. Perhaps it will allow me to sleep a little better,” stated Danara Locklear, another relative of the victim. Lizano is currently in custody in Virginia and may be extradited to Laurinburg within the next ten days.
