Virginia State Police are investigating a fatal two-vehicle crash that occurred on Patrick Henry Highway in Amelia County.
The incident took place around 6:10 a.m. on Tuesday, January 21, near the 11000 block of Patrick Henry Highway.
According to authorities, a 2018 Honda CR-V, driven by 78-year-old Paul Semtner of Blackstone, was traveling eastbound when it was struck by a tractor-trailer that entered its lane.
Tragically, Marilyn Semtner, 77, of Blackstone, who was seated in the front passenger seat, succumbed to her injuries sustained in the collision. Paul Semtner was transported to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Both individuals were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.
The 27-year-old tractor-trailer driver from Chesterfield was uninjured in the incident. State police confirmed that charges against the driver are pending as the investigation continues.
