Michael Shelonchik Obituary, Death;- A 53-year-old man succumbed to his injuries after being assaulted and robbed in the rear seat of an Uber vehicle in Brooklyn.
According to police reports, the incident occurred just before 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday in Coney Island. Two individuals entered the car while it was halted at an intersection. They proceeded to rob him, stealing the gold chain he was wearing around his neck.
After the attack, the assailants fled the scene, and the driver drove away but only managed to travel a few blocks before realizing that his passenger had lost consciousness. The deceased has been identified as Michael Shelonchik, a resident of Bergen Beach, Brooklyn.
He was declared dead at Maimonides Medical Center, with the cause of death pending determination by the Medical Examiner’s office. The motive behind the assault remains unclear, as does whether Shelonchik had any prior acquaintance with the assailants.
