Hannah Lebert Obituary, Death; – A 24-year-old woman who tragically lost her life in a collision involving a semi-truck early Tuesday morning in Mundelein has been officially identified by authorities in Lake County. The Lake County Coroner’s Office has confirmed the identity of the woman as Hannah Lebert, a resident of Lemont.
According to officials, Lebert succumbed to blunt force injuries sustained during the incident that occurred around 1:05 a.m. in the northbound lanes of IL Route 45, just south of University Drive, as reported by Mundelein police.
Upon arrival at the scene, officers discovered a severely injured 24-year-old female driver inside an Acura sedan. Due to the extensive damage to the vehicle, Lebert had to be extricated and was subsequently transported to a nearby hospital, where she later passed away from her injuries.
The semi-truck driver, a 44-year-old man, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was also taken to a nearby medical facility. Police reported that the semi driver indicated the Acura was traveling southbound on IL 45 when it lost control, crossed the center median, and collided head-on with the semi.
Initial investigations suggest that speed may have contributed to the Acura’s crossing of the median. Authorities have stated that there is no evidence to suggest that the semi driver was impaired, and toxicology tests are pending for both individuals involved.
Officials noted that the northbound lanes of IL Route 45 were closed for several hours due to the significant damage sustained by both vehicles. The investigation into the crash is ongoing, involving the Mundelein Police Department, the Lake County Major Crash Assistance Team, and the Lake County Coroner’s Office.
