Luz Maria Sandoval Obituary, Death; – A woman who tragically lost her life when her disabled van was hit by another vehicle on Interstate 5 in Carlsbad earlier this month has been identified as 63-year-old Luz Maria Sandoval.
The resident of Carlsbad was traveling southbound on I-5, just north of Poinsettia Lane, when her Dodge van became inoperable around 10:50 p.m. on January 9, as reported by the Medical Examiner’s Office.
Her son exited the van and was attempting to push it along the freeway when he narrowly avoided being struck just before a Ford SUV collided with the rear of the vehicle.
Emergency responders, including law enforcement and paramedics, arrived to rescue her from the van and initiated lifesaving efforts. Unfortunately, Sandoval was pronounced dead at the scene.
