Tsige G Mesfin Obituary, Death; – Lenexa police have confirmed the identity of the woman who lost her life in a suspected DUI incident on Friday night. Another local resident has been charged with second-degree murder in connection with the case. Tsige G. Mesfin, 48, from Shawnee, was declared dead at the crash site, as reported by authorities.
Preliminary investigations by Lenexa police indicate that Mesfin was heading north on Park Street when a Ford Bronco traveling east on West 89th Terrace failed to adhere to a stop sign. The Bronco collided with Mesfin’s Toyota RAV4, according to a police news release. Officers arrived at the scene at 11:10 p.m. on Friday and discovered both vehicles off the road and situated in a nearby yard. The two passengers in the Bronco were unharmed.
The driver, Amy Dawn Crouch, 46, from Lenexa, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence. The Johnson County District Attorney’s Office has since charged Crouch with second-degree murder. Court documents reveal that Crouch is currently under house arrest with GPS monitoring and is restricted from approaching within 500 yards of the victim’s home. The Traffic Safety Unit of Lenexa continues to investigate the incident.
