Charles Witter, aged 81, has been charged with first-degree murder in connection with the death of his 80-year-old wife, Helen Witter, as stated by DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin and Lombard Chief of Police Tom Wirsing.
Authorities were dispatched to the couple’s residence in Lombard shortly before 12:40 a.m. on Friday after Charles Witter placed a 911 call reporting that he had shot his wife. Upon arrival, officers found him at the front door, where he was promptly taken into custody.
