Mark Villalvazo,Julio Mendez Obituary, Death; – The Fresno County Coroner’s Office released the identities of the two individuals who lost their lives in a head-on collision that occurred on Sunday night in Fresno County. The deceased have been identified as Mark Villalvazo, aged 32, and Julio Mendez, aged 24, both residents of Coalinga.
According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the incident involved two vehicles—a Lexus and a Honda—and took place on Highway 33, just south of Highway 198, at approximately 8:40 p.m. on Sunday.
Officers reported that Villalvazo was operating the Lexus in the northbound lane of Highway 33 at a high speed, traveling in the wrong direction. Concurrently, Mendez was driving a Honda sedan southbound on the same highway.
The CHP indicated that Mendez was unable to evade the oncoming Lexus, leading to a head-on collision. The impact was so severe that Mendez was ejected from his vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene. Furthermore, Villalvazo’s vehicle became fully engulfed in flames, trapping him inside, and he was also pronounced dead at the scene.
