Francisco Contreras Arrested;- The Washoe County District Attorney’s Office has announced that a man has received a life sentence for first-degree murder.
Francisco Contreras was found guilty of fatally shooting a 42-year-old man in July 2022. In addition to the life sentence, he was sentenced to an additional 4 to 20 years for a deadly weapon enhancement, to be served consecutively.
On July 15, 2022, officers from the Sparks Police Department responded to a bar on Prater Way following reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, they discovered the victim deceased in the men’s restroom, having sustained a gunshot wound to the head.
Investigations revealed that Contreras had been on friendly terms with the victim and had purchased drinks for him. When the victim refused further drinks, Contreras became enraged, leading to a heated argument. He then suggested they step outside the bar to talk, but instead, they proceeded to the restroom, where Contreras shot and killed the victim.
Contreras surrendered to the police five hours after the officers arrived at the scene and subsequently pleaded guilty to first-degree murder with the use of a deadly weapon.
