Circumstances of the Disappearance
As detailed in a GoFundMe campaign, Sumba failed to report to her position at a nail salon in Elizabeth on Thursday, which led her children and colleagues to initiate a search for her.
When questioned about his wife’s location, Corte claimed ignorance and appeared “disinterested” in her disappearance, as noted on the fundraising page. Subsequently, her employer contacted the police regarding her absence.
“A Dedicated and Caring Mother”
Sumba was the mother of four children, ranging in age from 5 to 21. The couple had been married for 23 years, according to the GoFundMe page. Having relocated to the United States in 2021, she had recently acquired her driver’s license and was in the process of obtaining her GED, as mentioned in the campaign.
“Lucrecia Elizabeth was recognized as a dedicated, lovely, and caring mother, an excellent coworker, and someone who consistently brought joy to those around her. She was affectionately known as ‘La Tia’ at her workplace, a term of endearment used by both her colleagues and clients,” stated campaign organizer Danny Corte Jadan online.
