Police are asking for the public’s help identifying a pedestrian who was seriously injured during a crash in Norwalk on Tuesday evening.

Lt. Tomasz Podgorski of the Norwalk Police Department issued a statement Thursday saying investigators are still working to learn the identity of the man who was hit by a vehicle in the 600 block of Connecticut Avenue around 5:50 p.m.

Podgorski did not provide an update on the victim’s condition. A photo released by police shows the man in a hospital bed with what appears to be an intubation tube.

Anyone with information about the victim’s identity is asked to call police at 203-854-3000. Information can be shared anonymously at the Norwalk Police Tip Line at 203-854-3111 or at the department’s website, norwalkpd.com. Anonymous information can also be shared by sending “NORWALKPD” followed by the information in a text message sent to TIP411 (847411).

According to Podgorski, the victim received medical attention at the scene after he was found in the westbound lanes of Connecticut Avenue when emergency crews responded to a report of the crash. He was then taken to Norwalk Hospital.

A preliminary investigation found that the man was walking south across Connecticut Avenue and was not in a crosswalk, Podgorski previously said. The driver remained at the scene.

The investigation is being conducted by the Norwalk Police Crash Reconstruction Unit and the Identification Unit.
