Ronald Omar Tello,Carlos Jimenez Molina Obituary, Death; – Two local individuals lost their lives in a three-vehicle accident on Interstate 84 on Sunday morning, as reported by state police. The deceased have been identified as Ronald Omar Tello, 27, and Carlos Jimenez Molina, 36, both residents of Danbury, Connecticut.
According to an incident report released on Monday morning, the collision occurred at approximately 6:30 a.m. on Sunday. A 2008 Hyundai Tiburon was left disabled in the left lane, facing oncoming traffic after it collided with a guardrail on the right shoulder.
State police indicated that Tello and Jimenez Molina were occupants of the Hyundai. Following the crash, at least one passenger may have exited the vehicle and was seen standing beside it. The report classified Tello as a pedestrian and Jimenez Molina as a passenger.
A 2021 Lexus RX, operated by a 55-year-old man from Avon, was traveling in the left lane of I-84 West near Exit 8 when it approached the Hyundai, which was adjacent to a tractor-trailer in the right lane. The Lexus struck the Hyundai, causing it to spin in front of the tractor-trailer, a Frontliner Cascadia, leading to a subsequent collision.
Tragically, Tello and Jimenez Molina suffered fatal injuries. The driver of the Hyundai, a 21-year-old woman from Jamaica, N.Y., sustained minor injuries, as reported by state police.
The Avon man and the driver of the tractor-trailer, a 55-year-old from Davenport, Fla., were unharmed, according to state police. Authorities closed the westbound side of the highway for an extended period to conduct their investigation. State police have stated that no charges have been filed as the investigation remains ongoing.
