Michael McCorkle Obituary, Death; – The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) has confirmed the identity of the bicyclist who tragically lost his life in a hit-and-run incident in Southeast on Wednesday, as the search for the perpetrator remains ongoing. According to MPD, officers were dispatched to the 4500 block of Bowen Road around 9 p.m. on January 8, following reports of a vehicle colliding with a pedestrian.
Investigations revealed that the victim, 64-year-old Michael McCorkle from Southeast, was in the process of walking his bicycle across the road in the 4400 block of Southern Avenue when he was struck by a vehicle.
He succumbed to his injuries at the scene, and the vehicle fled the area, as reported by the police. MPD has indicated that surveillance cameras captured footage of the suspect’s vehicle, which is available for viewing.
